Attorney Jaime McSweeney, Esq.
Attorney Jaime McSweeney brings years of South Carolina family court experience and an elite academic background to all of the cases she handles. Jaime has handled numerous divorce, custody, and family court cases at the trial level, and she has also handled multiple appeals for the firm. Jaime’s experience includes handling multiple civil and family court appeals, including interlocutory appeals, in front of both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court.
Jaime graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with a B.A. in International Studies, magna cum laude. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating from USC, she attended the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. Jaime graduated from the University of Miami School of Law with honors in 2010. During her time in law school, she received the Dean’s Certificate of Excellence in her anti-trust and elements classes.
After graduating, she passed the Florida bar in 2010 and practiced law in Miami, Florida for several years. During her time in Miami, Jaime served as legal counsel to the Miami-Dade County Police Department. She also worked for boutique law firms in Miami, where she represented clients in civil, criminal, and family court matters. Jaime subsequently took and passed the South Carolina bar in 2014, and she is now licensed to practice law in South Carolina and in Florida. She moved back to her hometown of Columbia, SC in 2015 to be close to her family. Jaime joined the Law Office of Nick Mermiges in 2016, and she has handled numerous complex civil court and family court matters since that time. Jaime works hard to give her clients sophisticated, aggressive representation, with an eye towards accomplishing her clients’ goals.
